Show SOCIETY J. C. PENNEY PARTY A highlight of the week's social so-cial activity was the delightful dinner and dance at which Manager Man-ager and Mrs. E. J. Nixon entertained enter-tained employees of the J. C. Penney store and their partners last Thursday evening at the Roosevelt Ward hall. Banquet tables were beautifully beautiful-ly decorated with lighted Christmas Christ-mas candles in small log candelabra candel-abra nestled io beds of holly. Covers were laid for thirty-two guests. As a token of their esteem, the group presented Mr. Nixon with a lifetime pen and pencil set engraved en-graved with his name. ' . JUST-A-MERE The Roosevelt Coffee Shop banquet room was the scene of a delightful dinner party last Saturday evening when members mem-bers of Just-A-Mere entertained their partners at an annual Christmas get-to-gether. Long tables were attractively decorated with red tapers, pine boughs, and holly. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Ted Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Labrum, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Zimmerman, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Killian, Mrs. Reva Owen, Dick Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Walker, Mrs, Far-. Far-. rell Wilkins, Mrs. Pearl Moysh, . Mr. and Mrs. Tom White, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Larsen, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Larsen, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Verlan Labrum, Mrs. Lola Rich-ens, Rich-ens, and Lvnn Johnson. Bridge formed the diversion, following dinner, with prizes won by Mr. and Mrs. Jensen, Jen-sen, Mr. and Mrs. Adams, and Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Labrum. - BRIDGETTE One of the loveliest of the pre-Christmas pre-Christmas parties was that given by Karma Dee, Harmston when she entertained Bridgette club at the Eugene Harmston residence resi-dence last Thursday evening. A beautifully decorated Christmas tree formed the focal point of the decorations. . Luncheon was served with cov ers laid for Mrs. Mont Killian, Mrs. John Mohlman, Mrs. Parley Rawlings, Mrs. Benny Schmiett, Mrs. Ned Bellon, Mrs. Orson Stevens. Mrs. Steve Bellon. Mrs, Marvell Neilson, Mrs. Clem Labrum, Mrs. Johnnie Cook, Mrs. Bill Murdock, Mrs. Bill Nelson, Mrs. Reed Wiscombe, Mrs. Gordon Harmston, Mrs. Glenn Wyler and Mrs. Lee Harmston. Harm-ston. Four tables of bridge were at play during .the evening with prizes being won by Mrs. Nelson, Mrs. Ned Bellon and Mrs. Lab- X Ulll. SIMMONS PRESCOTT NUPTIALS ' NEOLA (Special) The E. J. Prescott residence was the scene . of a lovely home wedding on Monday, Dec. 15, when Miss Ver-rena Ver-rena Simmons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Simmons, of Tridell, became the bride of Ralph Prescott, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Prescott, of Neola. Miss LaRene Rasmussen acted as bridesmaid, and Jay Prescott, brother of the bridegroom, served as best man. Mr. and Mrs. Prescott are temporarily tem-porarily at home to their many friends at the residence of the bridegroom's parents. ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED BENNETT (Special) Latest of the holiday engagements being told is that of Miss Joyce Haslem, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clair Haslem, who is scheduled to marry mar-ry Gerald Bolton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mervin C. Bolton, sometime some-time in June. It will be a temple ceremony. STAKE PRIMARY PARTY Lovely in all details was the Christmas party at which the Roosevelt Stake Primary officers entertained their partners on Dec. 17. An annual affair, this year's party was held at the Rulon Anderton residence, A four-course dinner was served ser-ved at tables made attractive with lighted Christmas angel candles. Clever hand-made place cards marked covers for Mr. and Mrs. Alma Wills, Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Labrum, Mr. and Mrs. Thco Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. Darwood Campbell, Mr. 'Jim Bacon and Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Anderton. Mrs. Labrum acted as toast-mistress toast-mistress and called on each guest to contribute to the evening's entertainment. en-tertainment. Games were played following dinner, with Mrs. Anderton An-derton directing the fun. Mrs. John R. Bourne was in charge of the invitations, while Mrs'. Campbell was in charge of din ner arrangements. FT. DUCHESNE WOMEN'S CLUB The Ft. Duchesne Woman's Club enjoyed a lovely Christmas party Thursday, Dec. 18, at the home of Mrs. Ida Greene. A tempting luncheon was served by hostesses Mrs. Ida Greene and Miss Eva Haas, assisted by Mrs. Mildred Stone and Mrs. Marion Massie. Following luncheon games were played and Christmas carols car-ols enjoyed. Gifts were exchanged. exchan-ged. The next regular meeting will be held at the Nurses' Home with Miss Van Os, Mrs. Barrett and Mrs. Lambert acting as hostesses. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION Robert Hacking, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hacking, celebrated cele-brated his seventh birthday anniversary anni-versary with a party at his home Santa Claus looked in on the gathering and delighted the children with a little boot filled with candy. Eleven guests enjoyed en-joyed the occasion. BIRTHDAY PARTY Santa Claus was an honored guest at the sixth birthday party of Ann Murphy this week. St. Nick, always popular with the "young fry," made himself more so by presenting cornucopias of goodies to each of 30 little guests. Ann was assisted by her mother, Mrs. Paul Murphy, and by Mary Murphy and Maxine Hurley. ASHTON STORE PARTY J Another bright spot on the week's social calendar was the annual Leslie Ashton & Sons Christmas party at which Mr. and Mrs. Clair Ashton entertained enter-tained store employees and their partners on Christmas eve. Thirty-eight guests were seated at long tables made festive with Christmas holly and candles. Traditional carols, clever toasts and stories formed the diversion during dinner. Gifts were exchanged. ex-changed. JR. CULTURE CLUB . The Junior Culture club entertained en-tertained their husbands; ' and partners at an annual Christmas party Monday evening at the Legion Hall. The evening was spent in dancing and was climaxed cli-maxed by a temptingly arranged buffet supper. Mrs. Gordon Harmston, Mrs. Clarence Redmond, Mrs. Lynn Labrum and Miss Karma Dee Harmston were in charge of arrangements. ; CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY It was "Happy Birthday" for Lynn Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Cook, on Dccem-Iber Dccem-Iber 19 when she celebrated her tenth anniversary with a party at the Homer Edwards residence. A clever Christmas theme was carried out in the decorations and table adornment. Favors for each of 37 young guests were tied to balloons and released around the room. |
