Show U. B. Medical Assn. Names Officers Dr. R. E. Spendlove, Vernal, was elected president of the Uintah Uin-tah Basin Medical Association at a dinner meeting held Friday evening, Dec. 19, at the Roosevelt Roose-velt Coffee Shop. Elected to serve with Dr. Spendlove were Dr. Glenn H. Wyler, Roosevelt, vice president; and Dr. Joseph L. Hansen, Vernal, re-elected secretary-treasurer. Dr. T . R. Seager, Vernal, was named delegate dele-gate to represent the association at the State Medical convention. The current diptheria situation in Duchesne and Uintah counties was a subject of discussion. It was the opinion of the group that the epidemic is under control con-trol and that at no time had it reached alarming proportions. A good many of the cases reported report-ed have been "carrier" cases that is people whose throat cultures cul-tures have shown evidence of virulent germs, but who themselves them-selves show no evidence of the disease. In order to control an epidemic, however, it is necessary neces-sary that all such "carrier" cases be reported and quarantined, since they are capable of transmitting trans-mitting the disease to others. |
