Show Sgt. Promoted; DiSlman Ordered To Active Duty Marion Baumgaertel, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Baumgaertel, returned to Roosevelt December 20 to spend the Christmas holidays, holi-days, and while here received a Christmas present from Uncle Sam word of his promotion to 2nd Lieutenant. Lieutenant Baumgaertel re-enlisted re-enlisted as a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force on May 1, and has been stationed at Lowry Field, Colorado. i He will report to Scott Field, Ilinois, January 14 for additional instruction. Lieutenant Baumgaertel will return to Lowry Field on Dec. 29, where he will receive his discharge as an enlisted man. He will return to Roosevelt where he will remain until January 12. Marion's promotion was not the only holiday surprise enjoyed en-joyed by the "Old Judge" and his family. Another son, Alfred, returned Sunday night from a two year hitch with the U. S. Navy, Alfred has received his discharge and reports that his plans are still indefinite. Returning .with Alfred was Leon Fenn, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Fenn. Leon and Alfred enlisted in the Navy at the same lime,, have been together during their two years of service, and each received his discharge at the same time. Uncle Sam went even further this week he called Lieutenant Lieuten-ant R. Earl Dillman, USN, to two weeks active duty. Earl will report re-port to his station January 11, and will lake off on the USS Toledo for Pacific ports. Rumor has it that Earl may accept a commission as Lieutenant Lieuten-ant Commander, USN, on the Judge Advocate General's staff. |
