Show Individual Responsibility In 1941 more than one hundred hun-dred persons were killed every day in highway accidents. Highway officials, safety experts ex-perts and other national leaders are showing great concern over the possibilities of an increase in these figures. Aware that the average age of cars on the highway high-way today is considerably greater great-er than in 1941, safety engineers are turning their attention toward to-ward individual drivers, cautioning caution-ing that highway safety is a matter mat-ter of personal concern. Time and again attention has been called to the amazing apa thy of the people to the casualty list arising from traffic accidents. Every medium of public expression expres-sion periodically gives space to the subject of safety on the highway. high-way. We doubt if there is an automobile auto-mobile driver in Duchesne county coun-ty who does not thoroughly understand un-derstand the problem and its dangers. While improved automobiles and highways have made high speed possible and relatively safe, the conclusion must be reached that accidents can be prevented only through individual individ-ual effort. |
