Show EPHRAIM FARM BUREAU TAKES ON NEW LIFE At a recent meeting of the farmers, held at Ephraim. thirty-one responded out of 1G2 invitations mailed out to the people of the community to attend l he meeting for the purpose of discussing discus-sing vital questions of local interest. These invitations are issued by the County Extension Office. By vote of the number present the County Agent was asked to take charge The dairy and poultry projects were iiscussed in some detail. Pointing out the facts that if properly proper-ly handled by the individual farmer ind right kind of community cooperation cooper-ation is had that there is a good future lor these two projects in Ephraim, as well as other towns in Sanpete County. Poultrymen will be able to take advan tage of the recently organized County-Poultry County-Poultry Association as well as the grading station that is soon to be established es-tablished at Manti for the County. Due to the recent reduction in freight ales on poultry and dairy feeds into he county and the reduced rate" on shipping eggs to outside markets the profits from the poultry Industry In the future should be greatly enhanced. These privileges have been brot about by organized agriculture in the State. Before the meeting closed thb question ques-tion of reorganizing the local Farm Bureau was given lengthy consideration. considera-tion. Talks were made on the subject by lormer State President David N, Beal, County Farm Bureau Secretary and Treasurer, D. Ed. Thorp, Attornej A. W. Jensen, and others. All expressed ex-pressed themselves as being heartiij in favor and urging the farmers to gel to gether on a solution of their mans problems. Fourteen members left their checks for membership In tht Bureau at the close of the meeting President Seymour Christensen of th old organization and Secretary Sheldov Greaves were asked by the member present to push a reorganization ant membership campaign with vigor. |
