Show Funeral Held For John StanfieW, 83 Funeral services were held from the North ward chapel Tuesday at 2 p. m. t'or John Stansfield, one of the City's oldest citizens who died Saturday evening eve-ning after a brief illness following a stroke of paralysis. ! Bishop's Counselor Arthur Oi Neil-' Neil-' son was in charge. Music was furnished- by the choir, vocal solo, "Faee to Face," Mrs. S. H. Gill with accom-naniment accom-naniment by Mrs. J. F. Larsen, vocal duet, "One Fleeting Hour", Mr., and Mrs. George E. Squire. Prayers were offered by Rev. N. R. Smith and Bishop H. ,C. Jacobs. The speakers were William Olson. Allen Rowe. Bishop Marinus Larsen of Spanish Fork and Arthur O. Neil-son. Neil-son. A. F. Reynolds dedicated the grave. John H. Stansfield was born at Nottinghamshire. Not-tinghamshire. England in 1844. He came to Utah at the age of 19 years and settled at Spanish Fork. In 1873 he :ame to Mt. . Pleasant and made his perminent home. He married Anna Sophia Neilson of this city and five children were born nto them, Fred Stansfield, Irvin Stanr-field, Stanr-field, John H. Stansfield, George Stansfield. Stans-field. and Mrs. Phelina McArthur. Mr. Stansfield was a Black Hawk Indian War veteran but was unable to secure a pension .for some unknown reason to us. He took an active part in the Indian troubles. . He was engaged engag-ed in the sheep and wool business most of his life. He is survived by five children twenty five grand children and six great grand children, two sisters, Emila Jenkins of Los Angeles and Elizabeth Lang of Salt Lake. |
