Show Juniors Going To Stock Show The western slope of Colorado, long famed for its high quality of livestock will send fourteen boys and three girls to the fifth annual Junior Livestock and Baby Beef Show, according to returns just received from that state by E. W. Stephens, manager of the show to be held at South San Francisco. November 14 to 16. The young exhibitors ex-hibitors from Colorado will bring a prize-winning car-load of Here ford and Shorthorn baby beef and Poland China hogs. Enthusiastic , reports have been received from 1 Utah, Nevada and sections of Cal-! ifomia where Future Farmers ot America and 4H Boys and Girls Clubs are rapidly bringing their exhibits of prize baby beef, lambs 1 and hogs to a state of perfection that promises livelier competition ' than ever before in all classes. 1 Awards totaling five thousand dollars in cash and prizes will be distributed to the youthful exhibitors exhi-bitors and at the close cf the show they will have the added opportunity of participating in an auction sale of the exhibit stock which will add to the profits of their trip to San Francisco. Recognizing the growing importance impor-tance of the Junior Livestock and Baby Beef Show, the San Francisco Fran-cisco Chamber of Commerce, through its president, Leland W. Cutler, has named a committee of outstanding civic leaders to participate parti-cipate in extending the ity's hospitality hos-pitality to these young visitors from out-of-town. Joseph S. Thompson, member of the beard of directors of the Chamber of Commerce, is chairman of the committee. Serving with him are : Jerd F. Sullivan, Jr., president cl the California Bankers Association D. J. McGanney, assistant to the vice-president of the Southern Pacific, M. J. Buckley, traffic man' man-' ager of the Dollar Steamship Company, and Michel Weill, president pres-ident of the White House. This committee is outlining a plan of eStertainment that will furnish a diversion from their duties du-ties at the Livestock Show and at the seine time add to the educational educa-tional advantages that such a trip to San Francisco affords. |
