Show The Principle of Protection The principle of protection for our Industries, farmers and workers, by means of an equalizing tariff, has become be-come an integral part of our economic system. 1 It is an irrefutable fact that the most pronounced progress in American Ameri-can history, that of the twentieth ' century, has been under our protective tariff, which today amounts to general insurance of our future industrial and agricultural security. Social and economic differences between be-tween the United States and the othr great producing countries of the world are broader than ever before. In thisj country wages are higher, living condi- ' tions are better, and labor and capital i exist with a bond of friendliness and i ' cooperation diametrically opposed tc foreign caste systems. I |
