Show Saturday January 26th, Post No. 4 were the guests of Salina Post No. 36 at Salina. About twenty members from Mount Pleasant were present. Upon arrvial we were escorted to their post hall where we were made acquainted acquain-ted with their members. An excellent dinner was served at a local cafe there. Commander Rex of Salina acted as toastmaster and responses were made by ' most of our boys. A very good time was enjoyed by all present. We were challenged to a rabbit hunt to take place this Saturday, February 2nd, and accepted. A dance and banquet ban-quet had been planned for the visitors visi-tors in the evening, but we were very disappointed in receiving word late Thursday night, that they would have to cancel the hunt on acount of several sev-eral of their men being out of town. The local gun club was called upon to substitute and make it possible to stage the proposed hunt. Earl H. Seely and Wilford K. Peterson met with Uo and very generously offered to get their men together and hunt with us. Their terms were exceptionally liberal and we certainly appreciate their willing wil-ling cooperation. The Legion defeated the gun club by about thirty rabbits. A dance in the evening sponsored by the Legion was very successful. We had another disappointment last week. Our boxing bout as scheduled and announced in last week's notes, had to be called off on account of the two boastful challengers from Ephraim not showing up the last minute. However, How-ever, we nave a much better line-up under way which we hope to stage in the near future." Our membership is increasing now, and we have 21 members to date, we need that many more and then a few besides, to equal last year's mark. Don't fall down boys, but "Lets Go" and show our department officers that Post No. 4 is alive. They are conducting conduc-ting a membership race calling it "The Kentucky Derby," come out to our meeting and hear about it. Vioe-ommander Vioe-ommander Chesley P. Seely is the mem bership chairman and will give you complete details. Alexander Brown, thru cooperation of Post No. 4 and Senator W. D. Candland Cand-land was sent to the Veterans Bureau where medical examinations were given him and certain operations recommended rec-ommended and will be given later. Comrad Brown is surely entitled to Government compensation and we are going to see that he gets it. This is only one way we can help our Legion-aire Legion-aire comrads. Come and join us and learn what we can do for you, and what you can do for the Legion. J. F. L. |
