Show r : ,1 ! FAIRVIEW By Special Corespondence Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Terry entertained entertain-ed Tursday, January Jlst at a family dinner honoring Mr. Terry's 65th birthday birth-day anniversary. The rooms were decorated dec-orated in white, pink and red carnations. carna-tions. Dinner was served to Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Terry of Mount Pleasant, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Terry of Spring City, Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Barker, Mr. and Mrs. I. Tucker, Mr. and Mrs. Myron My-ron Johnson, Miss Rosalind Jones and Mr. A. L. Carlston, and a number of grandcildren. A social afternoon and evening were enjoyed. Mrs. Rodney Nelson who spent the past two months here left Tuesday for her home at. Clear Creek. Mr. Sidney Sanderson of Salt Lake City spent the past weekend visiting his mother, Mrs. Sarah J. Sanderson, and other relatives. Mr. Edwin S. Day of Castle Dale was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. E. A.' Day during the week. The South Ward Dramatic Club will present the drama, "Only Me" at the opera house Saturday evening. The cast includes Mrs. Leon Howell, the Misses Eda Parkinson, Ivy Peterson and Mildred Tucker, Mrs. Leo Clark, Allan Larsen, Cleston Rigby, Edgar Lassen and Harry Sundwall. The play is under the auspices of the Primary. All old people over 60 years will be admitted to the matinee free of charge. Mr. Ezra J. Day died at Fairview after a two weeks illness. He was 82 years of age. He was born February 11 1847, in Pottawattamie County, Iowa, the son of Abraham and Elmira Day. His father was with the Mormon Battalion in Mexico when he was born The family came to Utah in 1851 and settled at Springville and came to Mt Pleasant in the early sixties. He took part in three Indian wars and helped to build the rock fort around Mount Pleasant. He never married. In 1902 he went to work as gardner at the county Infirmary at Fairview. After two years he asked to make his home there. . Funeral services were held in Mount Pleasant North ward with BishoD H P. Olsen presiding. Mu3ic was furnished by a quartette from the ward choir, with vocal solos by Mrs. Kills D. Coombs and Mrs Grant OUen. The speakers wre Ell A. Day C W Sornsen and Bishop Henry p oisen Prayers were offered by Christen Johansen and Allen Rowe. Interment was in the Mount Plug ant cemetery where James B Staked dedicated the flower-covered grave Surviving are five brothers and thr- sisters: Edwin S. Day and Ira Day of Castle Dale, Herbert Day of Uoab Ephraim Day of Kllow.na, Brithh Columbia Eli A. Day of Fairview, Mr, G. W. Johnson of Murray, Mrs Flor Wnifeder It was said at the funeral service, that the man had no enemies, but had many friends. n,a |
