Show Can This Be True? If a recent London dispatch can be believed, the most astounding development in radio since broadcasting broad-casting became a reality has been achievd by a British scientist. The discovery is that of a new principle in radio reception whereby, where-by, it is said, 5,000 stations may operate on wave lengths between 300 and 600 meters instead of only 25 stations as at prsent. In other oth-er words, for every station which may be assigned a wave length at present. 200 stations could be accommodated ac-commodated by the application of the new system. While it would be rash to say that this momentous achievement has actually been assured, the high standing of the scientist who has announced it tends to inspire confidence con-fidence that something really epochal has been develeoped. The new discovery is said to have been made by James Robinson, former head of the radio laboratories labora-tories of the British Royal Air Force, who was the first to equip English airplanes with radio direction di-rection finders. He gave a demonstration dem-onstration in London a few nights ago which was reported in the press dispatch to which we have referred. re-ferred. Further information concerning the new discovery will be awaited await-ed with intense interest by radio ra-dio enthusiasts throughout the world. |
