Show More Pork and Milk Some Interesting facts concerning the nation's eating habits are contained con-tained in an address bv O. E. Baker of the Department of Agriculture, particularly with respect to the large per capita Increase in the consumption consump-tion of pork and milk. During the past 25 years the amount of pork eaten per person has increased increas-ed about 10 per cent, wnue the con-, sumption of milk has Increased 12 per cent. On the other hand, wheat flour has decreased 20 per cent and corn meal over 60 per cent. Commenting on this. Mr. Baker notes that among all farm animals the hog and dairy cow produce the most human food per unit of feed consumed, hence the trend of the national na-tional appetite toward these products Is in the interest of true economy. A slight increase in the consumption consump-tion per capita of poultry products has occurred since the war, which places that industry also in a relatively relative-ly favorble position among the food producing activities of the country. All of which indicates that the cow, the sow and the hen should be included in-cluded in every farmer's program of production. |
