The tremendous explosions that opened the British attack at-tack on Wytschaete bend were heard by David Lloyd George, the British Premier, who was staying for the night at his residence, Walton Heath, 140 tntles away. The -plans for the attack had been j long maturing and when the preparations prepar-ations were perfected the premier was acquainted with the exact hour it was intended to open it.
