Show SOCIAL EVENTS 1 In honor of Dr. and Mrs. W. W. McKirahan, who left Wednesday for the.r new home in Salt Lake, Mr. ana Mrs. E. W. Wall entertained at an elaborate dinner Monday evening, 'ihe dining taole held covers for Dr. anJ jirs. .McKiranau, Mrs. Mary MoicheaU, Miss Kulh Mitchell, C. L. Jonns, .Mr. and Mis. E. W. Wall, .Miss Margaret Wall, Harold Wall, Chester McKirahan and Betty Wall. Mrs. E. R. .Poulson entertained a numuer of her triends Monday afternoon after-noon at an old-fashioned "Rag-Bee," followed by a sumptuous dinner. Present were Mesdames C. W. Soren. seu, G. F. Bohne, Carrie Harbroe, A. S. Jensen, James Monsen, Nephi Christensen, Erick Ericksen, Leo Seely, Joseph Johanseu, Andrew Tanner Neilsen, and Erick G.under-sou, G.under-sou, and Misses Ethel Gunderson and Faughn Poulson. Jn honor of Miss Viola Whittaker and Miss Gretchen Horst of Salt Lake, Miss Caroline Rasmussen en. tertained at a beautifully appointed luncheon Monday afternoon. The afternoon af-ternoon was spent in knitting for the Red Cross. The guests were the Misses Viola and Aileen Whittaker, Gretchen Horst, Winifred, Frances and Carol Jensen, Hilda Madsen, Mary Petersen, Elma Noland, Irene Noilsen and Mrs. John K. Madsen. A very unique and delightful porch luncheon was given Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon by Miss Hilda Madsen complimentary to Miss Elma Noland and Miss Viola Whittaker, two August Aug-ust brides. The porch was artistical. ly decorated to represent a Japanese arbor and appropriate games were played including a "consolation letter" let-ter" to each guest. The invited guests were Mrs. Leander Thompson of Ephraim, Miss Gretchen Horst of Salt Lake, Miss Isabel Plumb of Chicago, Chi-cago, Miss Winifred Jensen, Miss Caroline Car-oline Rasmussen, Mrs. John K. Madsen, Mad-sen, "Miss Frances Jensen, Mrs. Hy-rum Hy-rum Christensen, Miss Viola Whittaker, Whitta-ker, Miss Elma Noland, Miss Carol Jensen, Mrs. Emil Rutishauser, Mrs. Georgia B. Johnson, Miss Aileen Whittaker, Mrs. Elmer Johansen, Miss Irene Neilsen, Miss Mabel Borg and Miss Mary Petersen. Dr. and Mrs. W. W. McKirahan were the guests of honor at a beautiful beauti-ful farewell reception given by Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Jensen on the spacious lawns of their home Tuesday evening. even-ing. Strings of many colored lights and festoons of the flags of the Allies were the out-door decorations. The motive for the entertainment was "The Carnival of the Nations," each guests representing one of the celebrities cele-brities of the Allied Nations. Later the crowd made merry with other out-door games and Rev. R. B. Norton Nor-ton won first prize as the swiftest runner. Hand painted cards bearing each a flag divided the groups into enthusiastic devotees of Roumania, Russia, France, Belgium, Great Britain, Brit-ain, Italy and the United States and each country gave a life-like tableau and then formed in grand march and j repaired to the dining room and I breakfast porch all lit with Japanese lanterns where refreshments were served. A musicale followed in which Miss Margaret Wall, Miss Frances Jensen and Miss Carol Jensen participated, partic-ipated, in voice, harp and piano selections. sel-ections. Miss Winifred Jensen in an allegory of "Father Time" gave the presentation speech aai a bevy of Wasatch Academy girls marched in, bearing a beautiful mahogany clock, a farewell gift to Dr. and Mrs. McKirahan Mc-Kirahan from their many Mount Pleasant friends. Fitting and touching touch-ing responses were made by the honored hon-ored guests. A large group of Dr. McKirahan's former pupils and alumni alum-ni of Wasatch Academy closed the evening with the rousing choruses of the Wasatch Loyalty Song and Farewell. Fare-well. Fifty guests participated, including in-cluding Mr. and Mrs. J. Morgan John, son and Miss Belva Johnson of Spring City, and Mrs. L. F. Becker of Man-ti. Man-ti. Dr. and Mrs. McKirahan left the following day for Salt Lake where Dr. McKirahan assumes the duties as dean of Westminster College': Other guests present at the reception were-Rev. were-Rev. and Ttfrs.
