Show DANGEROUS FOREST 11 KE SEASON APPROACHING The Forest Service organization ia now facing the most disastrous period peri-od of the year from the standpoint of lire hazard in the Forests. The tini-berlahds tini-berlahds of the interniountain region are now in an extremely dry and inflammable in-flammable condition and the field force of the Service is straining every resource to keep down the season's fire losses. In this effort the cooperation cooper-ation of the many visitors to the National Na-tional Forests is urgently requested. The Forest Service- is especially anxious to impress upon the public the fact that over half of all forest fires arc wholly preventable, if proper pro-per care is used with fire in the woods. As it is realized that the motion mo-tion picture is a very effective means of attracting public attention, the Service recently prepared a film portraying por-traying in an interesting and realistic rianuer the disastrous results which may be brought about by carelessness with fire in the woods. In one portion por-tion of this reel the destruction of the town of Sisson, California, is shown as the result of a forest fire which got beyoiid control and which cost the Government several thousand thou-sand dollars to extinguish. Through the courtesy and cooperation of motion mo-tion picture exhibitors, this reel has just been shown on a circuit including includ-ing most of the important towns and cities in Utah, Southern Idaho and Wyoming, it being hoped to emphasize, empha-size, through the exhibition of the reel, the need for extreme care with fire on the part of anyone whose business busi-ness or pleasure takes him into a forest. |
