Miss Verda Rasmussen, who has been attending the" U. of U. this winter win-ter but has been taking a course in training in the local public schools for the past month, was the recipient of a very successful surprise at her home Monday evening. A beautifully apointed patriotic luncheon in honor of Washington's birthday was given Saturday evening at the H. C. Beaumann home by Miss Nettie Beaumann. American Beauty roses were used in the dining room and Killarney rose buds in the living room. In all other details of the entertainment en-tertainment the national colors and patriotic ideas were carried out. Several Sev-eral tables of "500" were played. The guests included Miss Melba Aldrich, Mrs. Thomas R. Reese, Miss Addie Andersen, Miss Arcilee Barnett, Miss Norma Andersen of Ephraim, Miss Kate Ericksen, Miss Velma Tidwell, Miss Goldie Neilsen, Miss Eva Ericksen, Er-icksen, Miss Eva Simpson, Miss Myrtle Myr-tle Larsen and Miss Gladys Ericksen. One of ithe most enjoyable affairs of the week was the outing made by the Twentieth Century club ladies to Oakdale ranch, where they were entertained en-tertained by Mrs. W. D. Candland and Mrs. R. W. Candland. The trip to the ranch was made in sleighs and upon arrival the guests enjoyed a delicious luncheon. During the afternoon aft-ernoon Mrs. George Madsen read an excellent paper, "Our Knowledge of the Government," and a general discussion dis-cussion followed. Those who participated par-ticipated in the outing were Mes-dames Mes-dames R. L. Madsen, James Larsen, Fannie C. Miles, George Madsen, J. P. Neff, H. C. Jacobs, Orange Aldrich, R. H. Hinckley, Mabel J. Earle, Al-onzo Al-onzo Madsen, Guy Candland, Miss Hilda Madsen and Miss Tina Ericksen. Erick-sen. The Senior class of Wasatch Academy Acad-emy will stage a patriotic play, "In the Days of '76," Saturday evening at the Elite Theatre. During the second Liberty Loan campaign the seniors bought a $50 bond and presented pre-sented it to Wasatch Academy and during the winter the seniors have given a number of socials and parties to raise the funds to pay for their bond. The play to be staged Saturday Satur-day evening is also being giver, for this purpose. Under the direction of Miss Ruth Mitchell the class has drilled and practiced hard for the past two months and a most success-: success-: ful presentation is expected. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Johansen entertained en-tertained at a beautifully appointed dinner party Friday evening in honor hon-or of Mrs. Johansen's fortieth birthday birth-day anniversary. The dining table which had a crystal vase of sweet peas and ferns for a centerpiece held covers for Mr. and Mrs. Johansen, Mrs. Sena Johansen, Mrs. Lizetta Hafen, Ha-fen, Mrs. Thomas Harrison of Salt Lake.
