Show UTAH HOME GUARD MEN GET PENSIONS Word Received From Washington of Awards to Veterans of lilac k Hawk Indian War. Indian war veterans who served only in home guard companies are not. by that reason, to be barred from participation in the federal government, govern-ment, pensions for Black Hawk Indian In-dian war veterans, and men who took part in the reconnoitering expedition expedi-tion headed by Captain James And-rus, And-rus, which left St. 'George for the junction of the Green and Grand i rivers, also will participate. This much is made clear by the fact that men who have served in each of these capacities have received pensions, according ac-cording to word reaching the office of Mrs. E. M. Cohen, Utah pension commissioner, com-missioner, from Washington yesterday. yester-day. The office of commissioner of pensions pen-sions notified Mrs. Cohen that pensions pen-sions had been granted to the following fol-lowing : Thomas M. Clark of Wendover, member of the James Andrus company; com-pany; Thomas J. HouseKeeper of Fairview, member of the Joseph Smith Day company; Orlando Iler-ron Iler-ron of Pleasant Grove, member of the Jonathan S. Page company; Martin Mar-tin Aldrich of Mount Pleasant, member mem-ber of the George Tucker and Orange Seely companies, and to Albion R. Strang of Indian Springs, whose record rec-ord as a Utah war veteran Mrs. Cohen has not found. |
