Show MELGAARD REPORTS RIG PROMTS WITH CHICKENS S. P. Melgaard of Fairview purchased pur-chased GOO chicks in the spring of 1916. He kept accurate accounts of their keeping and results obtained. During that summer and fall he sold enough roosters to pay for the chicks. From November 191C to November Novem-ber 1917 the 355 hens laid 36,583 eggs which were sold for $999.94. The cost of feeding was $382.09. The net gain was $617.85. This was $2.42 for each hen. Mr. Melgaard says that he feeds his hens in the evening after they go to roost and makes them get up in the morning at 4:30 and scratch for It by turning on the electric light. Mr. Melgaard will be pleased to inform anyone how to get good results re-sults from raising chickens. |
