Show SENATOR TILLMAN DEAD. Veteran of Twenty-four Years' Service Answers Summons of Grim Reaper. Washington. United States Senator Sena-tor Benjamin R. Tillman, veteran of 24 years' service in congress and chairman chair-man of the senate naval affairs committee, com-mittee, died at his home here July 3 as the result of a cerebral hemorrhage. As governor of South Carolina, as a leader in the southern wing of the Democratic party and as an active participant par-ticipant in the last generation's growth of the American navy, Senator Tillman had been prominently before the public pub-lic for many years.
