Show OGDEN FISHERMAN IS ELECTROCUTED Ogden. July 7. William M. Byrne, chief plant operator for the Utah Power and Light company at River-dale, River-dale, met death today in a most singular sin-gular manner. Byrne, with Henry Moore, another power plant operative, operat-ive, entered the millrace connected with the power plant on a raft. A wire carrying 220 volts was thrown into the stream and immediately some fish came to the surface. Excited, Byrne jumped into the water to seize an especially large fish, and was stunned by the electrical elec-trical shock he sustained. As he threw one hand out toward the raft, he touched a charged wire and was electrocuted. An alarm given by Moore attracted men at the plant, who shut off the power. The body was taken from the stream by Moore and Joel Grover, and for two hours the fire department depart-ment pulmoter was employed in a futile fu-tile effort to resuscitate Byrne. The latter is survived by his wife and four children. , |
