Show A. C. CANDLAND GIVES PLAN TO AVOID FLOOD DISASTER IN FUTURE A. C. Candland, a resident of this city who is now living on his farm at Mt. Pleasant, was in Provo Wednesday, Wed-nesday, and paid The Post a short visit. While here he discussed to some extent the great damage done to the citizens of Mt. Pleasant by the flood caused by a cloudburst some two weeks ago. Mr. Candland'a farm is located near the mouth of the canyon directly in the path of the flood, and it was with the hope of helping Mr. Candlands family that his neighbor, Mr. Oldham, the only victim of the flood, was drowned. A lingular coincidence incidental to Mr. Candland's visit, and his conversation con-versation with a representative of The Post was the fact that while he was explaining his views on the best method of diverting the stream so as to minimize the damage, It was suggested that auch a thing might not happen again in a lifetime. "One can never tell," Hald Mr. Candland, as he glanced over the headlines of the morning paper, when hii eyes fell upon this headline: "Ml. Pleasant Is Again Hit by Flood." "Hollo, what's this?" said Mr. Candland, as he read of another cloudburst that had swept the town Tuesday night and lasted for more than three hours. "I'd better go home." said Mr. Candland. "I don't think 1 shall have much trouble now In convincing the city couneilmen that something should he done immediately.'" he said as he left our office, wondering what damage he had sustained. |
