Show FIRE STARTS AT BROWNHOTEL Fire started on the roof of the Brown Hotel last Tuesday morning and destroyed a portion of the build. ' ing, causing damage to the extent of about two hundred dollars. At eight o'clock as Mrs. Crane was serving at the table her son, Willie called to her from his room and showed her the smoke which was coming through the roof into the room. At once Mrs. Crane discovered that the roof outside was on fire. She immediately called the fire department depart-ment and while so doing Ernest Draper Dra-per and Burke McArthur scoured a garden hose from the livery stable and turned a stream of water onto the blaze and held it in check until the department arrived. It was only a few minutes after the fire department got the big stream of water on the building until the fire was extinguished. The cause of the fire was a spark on the roof. The building is owned by Doren Parrine of Datyon, Idaho and a message mes-sage was sent to him at once. He arrived the following day and reported report-ed that repairs would be made at once. He will make it even better than it wa before the fire. The building was insured by the St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Co. L. L. Dibble representing the company appeared on the grounds yesterday and made adjustments in the snim of $200. Mrs. Crane will conduct the business busi-ness of the hotel the same as usual. |
