Show "Pitching In" To Help A dispatch from Tennessee says that "Uncle Joe" Vandergriff, 97-year-old farmer, recently losl everything that he had when fire burned his house to the ground. The old man courageously declared, de-clared, "I'm not too old to start life over," and said that he was ready to "start from scratch." This is a commendable spirit, reflecting considerable credit upon up-on the 97-year-old man, but the explanation, we suspect, is contained con-tained in his statement: "All my friends and neighbors are pitching in to help me." Human beings, regardless of age or destitution, retain hope so long as they have friends and neighbors "pitching in" to help them. |
