Show Music Guild Outlines Work For New Year On Thursday, Sept. 16th the Mt. Pleasant Music Guild met at the home of Mrs. Stanley Gill. Old members were delighted to find that the club role had been extended to include several new members, bringing the active membership list to about thirty-five. thirty-five. This vear's officers are: Mrs. Stanley" H. Gill, President; Mrs. Harry G. Ericksen, vice-president; vice-president; Mrs. T. W. Jensen, secretary; sec-retary; and Miss Margaret Thompson, treasurer. The vear's program is to be railed, ""The World of Music." Every other meeting will be given giv-en over to the study of the lives of great composers. At the alternate al-ternate meetings the works of these composers will be illustrated illus-trated by records and performance perform-ance by members. In an effort to keep everyone aware of the best radio programs available, a "grape-vine" sys- N tern of telephone communication communica-tion has been devised. Mrs. Ralph Gunn is in charge. The Guild is much interested in sponsoring junior musical activities, ac-tivities, and at east one meeting will be given over entirely to performances by the city's young musicians. Music lovers who heard Jan Cherniowsky two years ago will be glad to know that the Guild, cooperating with Wasatch Academy, Acad-emy, is sponsoring a concert to be given sometime in the spring by the Cherniowsky Piano-Cello Duo. Michael Cherniowsky, the Cellist, spent last year touring Africa. All members are requested to take note of the fact that the remainder of the times and places of meeting will appear In the Pyramid, and will be the only reminders given. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Ralph Gunn on Thursday, Oct. 7th, at three forty-five. Mrs. Ericksen is In charge of the lesson, which will consist of character sketches of the great composers of the early classical period. , |
