Show J. W. Anderson Passes Away Well-Known Educator Dies Dies Thursday in Salt Lake James W. Anderson, 70, prominent prom-inent in m Utah education, religious relig-ious and civic work for nearly 1 9 ina centurv. died Thursday at it of coronary thrombo sis at his home, 1133 E. 2nd South, Salt Lake City. He was born in Fairview, Sanpete San-pete county, Feb. .28, 1875, a son of Archbald and Caroline Johnson John-son Anderson. Mr. Anderson, who taught in Utah elementary and high schools for more than 46 years received his early teaching experience ex-perience in Spring City, later going go-ing to Mt. Pleasant as superintendent superin-tendent of the Sanpete county schools. He served as juvenile judge of Sanpete and Sevier counties two terms. Besides his educational and civic work, he was first counselor coun-selor in North Sanpete L D S stake presidency. Later Mr. Anderson And-erson was principal of Salt Lake City summer school for eight years, and for several years had charge of West high night school. He married Amelia Allred April 2, 1897, in the Manti L D S temple tem-ple and in the same year was sent on a two-year mission to the southern states. The family moved to Salt Lake City in 1923. Mr. Anderson was active in Grant stake high council coun-cil and later in Eleventh L D S ward activities. He is survived by his widow; four sons, J. Clair Anderson, Og-den, Og-den, Vernon H. and Boyd Anderson, Ander-son, Salt Lake City, and Owen Anderson, Springville; three daughters, Mrs. Glen G. Neill, Garfield, Mrs. Henry Buma, .Mid-vale, .Mid-vale, and Mrs. Floyd Snyder, Los Angeles; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, John A. Anderson, McKinnon, Wyo.; two sisters, Mrs. Olaf Asp-lund, Asp-lund, Barnwell, Alberta, Canada, and Mrs. Owen M. Sanderson, Salt Lake City; three half brothers, broth-ers, A. H. Anderson, Mt. Pleasant, Hyrum Anderson, Provo, and Al-vin Al-vin Anderson, Richfield; two half sisters, Mrs. Matilda Peterson and Mrs. Alice Rigby, Fairview. Funeral services will be conducted con-ducted Monday at 2 p. m. in Salt Lake and burial will be in the City cemetery. |
