Show Stopping A Racket An extensive war fraud racket has been unearthed in a shipyard ship-yard near Boston with the arrest of nearly one hundred workers on charges of conspiracy to defraud de-fraud the Government.' A number of welders, paid for piece-work, were credited by counters for more work than they performed and some received as much as $75 a week extra. The counters, for their dishonesty, received re-ceived a share of the illegal payments pay-ments from the welders. It is not surpriseing that some workers attempt to defraud the Government and it would be a mistake to assume that similar frauds are the usual procedure. It is interesting, however, to know that the FBI is not too busy to investigate what goes on in the war plants. Maybe the knowledge knowl-edge may restrain garfters in other areas. |
