Show SPUING CITY I By Special Correspondence By Mrs. Virgus Osborne Sergeant Llinton M. Draper Reported Missing In Action Local townspeople were deeply grieved Wednesday, over the telegram tele-gram from the Adjutant General,) stating that Clinton Draper, son I of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Draper was missing. The telegram to Mr. and Mrs. Draper dated June 21, stated: "The Secretary of War desires me to express his deepest regret that your son, Sergeant Clinton M. Draper has been reported missing in action sine nine June over Germany. If further information infor-mation ar received you will be promptly notified." The Adjutant General. Clinton enlisted in the Army Reserve in December, 1942, while .attending his first year at Snow "College. He left for service March 29, 1943. Before going overseas he was stationed at Camp Kearns in Utah, where he received basic training. He later trained at the following places: Lowry Field, Buckley Field, Colorado; Tindal Field, Florida; Salt Lake City Air Base, Westover, Mass.; Langley Field, Virginia and Chatchen, Georgia. He received his wings November, Novem-ber, 1943 at Tindal Field, Florida. Clinton left from Virginia for overseas and arrived there June 3rd. A letter from Southern Italy written to his parents dated June 5, was the last they heard from him. He was an armorer gunner on a B-24. He was a graduate of North Sanpete High school at Mt. Pleasant. Pleas-ant. Func-al Service for Metha Jensen A well attended and impressive impres-sive funeral service was held Monday at 2 p. m. under the direction di-rection of the Jacobs Mortuary for Mrs. Metha Marie Jensen, 63, wife of Daniel Jensen, and a correspondent cor-respondent for the Pyramid for fifteen years. Bishop E. B. Terry conducted the services. Choir numbers sung, conducted by chorister Mrs. Rose Schofield, were: "Sometime We'll Understand," "Sister Thou Wast Mild and Lovely," and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," solo by Mrs. Rose Schofield. The invocation in-vocation was offered by F. C. Sorenson. The first speaker, John Peterson, spoke of Mrs. Jensen joining the churchc in her native country, Denmark and' her splendid splen-did faith in ideals. Floyd Draper of the ward Bis opric spoke of her faith and thtr trials the Sc'arr-danavian Sc'arr-danavian people suffered for their religion, and of her courage today in having a son in the Service of our country. James W. Blain said he appreciated appreciated ap-preciated her friendship, also that of her family. He commented comment-ed on her ability as a correspondent. corres-pondent. Bishop Terry spoke of her splendid personality and the fine mother she was. Mrs. Roland Ro-land Bagnall of Chester sang the solo, "You Are a Wonderful Mother." Mrs. Olga Black and Mrs. Iva Aiken sang a vocal duet, "In The Garden." The benediction benedic-tion was offered by Christian Sorenson. The many floral offering were carried from the building by members of the ward Relief Society. So-ciety. Interment was in the City cemetery. Mrs. Minnie D.. Barney is "visiting "vis-iting her relatives in Delta, U-tah. U-tah. Mrs. Earl Jensen left for Montana Mon-tana to join her husband, who is there shearing sheep. Byron Jensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Jensen, is spending a few days with his parents and relatives at Spring City. He is on a furlough from Camp Hobbs, New Mexico, where he is one of the ground crew of the Air Corps. James F. Ellis, Chairman of :his City's Bond Drives, has selected se-lected a committee, who are canvassing can-vassing each home to secure more Bond sales. Mrs. Boyd Allred and small daughter, Kerry are visiting in Salt Lake City with Mrs. Aleith Russell and family. Miss Marylin Cliff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Cliff of Salt Lake City is visiting relatives rela-tives in this city. Mrs. Maurine Nelson is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs. Vivian Larsen. Mrs. Nelson's husband has been an Instructor at San Diego. He is M. Richard Nelson of Logan, Utah. He left for Texas to train there as an Instructor. The various groups of the ward Primary are meeting weekly and are busy with their summer Primary Pri-mary projects. Mrs. Fay Ivory and Mrs. Ber-nice Ber-nice Christensen and families of Fountain Green and Salt Lake City visited their parents, . Mr. and Mrs. James W. Blain the past week, while their brother, Lyle Blain is home on a furlough. fur-lough. Lyle has been stationed at Camp Joseph T. Robinson, in Arkansas. Darwin Terry, son of Bishop and Mrs. E. B. Terry, is home on furloughvisiting with his relatives rela-tives and friends. He received his Boot training at Farragut, Idaho. Henry C. Strate, John R. Baxter Bax-ter and Johnny Baxter spent Sunday Sun-day in Delta. Utah visiting relatives rela-tives on Father's Day. Allred. About sixty guests were present. The evening was spent in games and the pleasure of a good program. After the program refreshments were served by Mrs. Denzil Aiken, Miss Edra Allred, Mrs. Grant Neilson, Mrs. Ferris Norman, Denza Aiken and Mrs. Virgus Osborne. Mrs. Denzil Aiken and daughter, daugh-ter, Denza Aiken of Las Vegas, Nevada are visiting Mrs. Aiken's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Allred, also to attend the wedding wed-ding of Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Bauer. The bride is a sister of Mrs. Aiken. Mr. and Mrs. Reid H. Allred and children, Walace and Lenore, also Mrs. Mary E. Acord visited in Midvale, Utah Saturday and Sunday with Mrs. Allred's sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Lee. Mr. Lee is connected with the sugar factory in Midvale and is being transferred in the near future to Washington. Mrs. Lee was formerly Miss Golda Acord of this city. While there Mr. and Mrs. All-red All-red talked over long distance telephone to their son, Keith, an air student stationed at Harvey Parks Airport at Sikeston, Missouri. Mis-souri. He called to send greetings greet-ings on Father's Day. Mrs. Rulon Peterson of Eph-raim Eph-raim visited Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Justesen. |
