Show Mr. Louis Kay and daughter, Margaret Jean drove to Salt Lake Cily last week to attend the Centennial Cen-tennial week events and to bring Mrs. Kay home following her summer school session. Returning Return-ing with them was Mrs. Helen McBain of Delta, Utah with whom Mrs. Kay roomed at Carlson Carl-son Hall, U. of U. Mrs. McBain teaches Home Economics at Delta Del-ta High School. She returned to her home on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. George Sorensen received a telegram announcing the arrival of a new granddaughter, granddaugh-ter, born to Capt. and Mrs. Royal H. Sorensen on July 7lh at the Letlerrnan General Hospital at the I'resedio at San Francisco, Calif., wlier Capt. Sorensen Is stationed. Mr. and Mis. Wilfonl Synder-gaai'd, Synder-gaai'd, Mr. and Mrs. Hill Syndergaard Synder-gaard and boys and Mrs. Susana Madsen spent Sunday at Bryce Canyon. They had a most pleasant pleas-ant time. It was the first time Mrs. Madsen had ever been to Bryce. Mrs. Moroni Marchant was a ' Salt Lake visitor last Saturday, where she saw the performance ! of "Promised Valley," and also i viewed the art exhibits, "100 Years of Pioneer Painting,'-' and "History of American Painting." Mrs. Marchant graudated from the University of Utah with a major in fine arts, so she was greatly interested in the exhibits. One painting that she thought was especially good was "The Bridle Path White Mountains" byWinslow Homer. Mrs. Marchant Mar-chant described the lighting in this particular picture as being exceptionally well done. Another that appealed to her because of its tranquility was the picture by Edward Hopper, "Early Sunday Morning." Mrs. Marchant said that both the performance of "Promised Valley" and the art exhibit were very much worthwhile. worth-while. Demonstrating color application applica-tion and technique in painting at the Sanpete Gas Company on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Wednes-day of this week was Miss Carol Rogers. Miss Rogers is a native of Salt Lake City, and employed by Arnspiker and Ostler Company Com-pany in that city. She attended a two weeks' training course in Chicago last March in painting, and has given demonstrations throughout the state. Lily Jean Marchant, six-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moroni Mo-roni Marchant, has just returned from an enjoyable two weeks vacation with, her grandfather, A. J. Marchant, of Peoa, Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Tolman and their four children, Ray, Max Tommy and Norma Jean, were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Que Seely from Monday to Thursday of last week. Mr. Tolman Tol-man is a brother of Mrs. Seely. Recent guests at the Don Lund home were Mr. and Mrs. William A. Lund of Los Angeles, California, Califor-nia, with their son and daughter, Ronald and Nedra. Mr. Lund is the Bishop of Elysian Garden ward in Los Angeles, and came with his family to spend his vacation va-cation in Utah during the Centennial Cen-tennial celebration which reached reach-ed its climax last week. Mr. and Mrs. Don Johansen have had as their guests for the last several days Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mower and two sons of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Mower is the former for-mer Maurine Blackham of Fair-view. Fair-view. The two couples enjoyed an overnight fisning trip to the Cleveland Reservoir last Saturday Satur-day and Sunday, but report no fish caught. Mrs. Johansen celebrated cele-brated her birthaay on Sundav. Pleasant American Legion Le-gion Auxiliary, and during their fta? adhered ?o a well-orgamzed schedule of study and recreation Risine at 6:30 each morning, the participated in half an hour of calisthentics, then breakfast, devotional, lecture period on government gov-ernment and citizenship, and in the afternoon games, swimming and soprts.
