Mrs. Thomas Sanders of Douglas, Doug-las, Ariz, has been visiting in Fairview with M. and Mrs. Darius Da-rius Sanders. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Rigby returned re-turned last week from California where they have been visiting for the past two weeks. They visited at Glendale with Mr. and Mrs. Harry OoiiK and at vanoga Park with Mr. and Mrs. Reed Briggs. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Clark and family of Clearfield have been visiting in . Fairview with Mrs. Marion Madsen and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Madsen and family. Big Day In Fairview It was a big day in Fairview on July 24th with people from all over the county coming here to celebrate. The list of the day's events follows: Bambardment, Serenade, Parade depicting early and modern times, program in the North ward chapel, under the direction of G. G. Sanderson: Piona solo, Le Nila Young; talk on early pioneer days, Peter Peterson; saxophone solo, Earl Brady; talk on modern times, La Mar Stewart; violin solo, Alvin Al-vin Brady; vocal duet, by Ellen Peterson and Elva Hamilton; Introduction In-troduction of Queen, Dorothy Mower and attendants, Thora Stewart and Donna Graham by Golden Sanderson; talk, Dorothy Mower; organ solo, Ida Day. At 2-00 p. m. children's games were held on the South ward chapel lawn; children's dance and a ball game, Fairview vs. Mt Pleasant, was held at 4:00 p. m.; at 8:30 there were fireworks fire-works at the City ball park following fol-lowing that a dance was held on Main street and in the Amusement Amuse-ment Hall with music by the Mozarts. Mr and Mrs. Ray Orfendorf of Philadelphia, Penn. visited last week with Mr and Mrs Peter Nielson, Mr. and Mrs. Allie Carlston and other friends Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Allred and family of Shelley, Idaho have beVvisiting with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Larsen and Mrs Sarah Sa-rah Allred and other friends in Fairview. J. T. Fowles They arrived ar-rived in time for their grandmother's grand-mother's funeral, Mrs. Sarah B. Fowles, . ., Tuesday evening, July 29th Fairview North ward M. I. A. held a vveiner roast. Games were played and the following program pro-gram enjoyed: a number by the Harmonica band; P'LaNv-rence P'LaNv-rence Larsen; vocal duet, Nava-ho Nava-ho Trail," Rosalin Carlston and Mary Larsen; reading Sona Carlston; community singing, under direction of chorister, Evelyn Eve-lyn Terry. The rema.nder of the evening was spent in roasting roast-ing weiners and having fun. Saturday, July 19th the Fair-view Fair-view North ward returned home from a week's trip to fellow -stone National Park. The Christenscn and Baltzcrson reunion was held July 2tUh and 27th at Hughes Canyon, Huntingdon. Hunting-don. There were eleven families present, totaling forty-five in all. Saturday evening; a weiner roast and program was enjoyed. Sunday Sun-day was spent in playing soft ball: at 1:30 a meeting was held for the election of officers. The new officers are: Fern Johnson, president: Eugene Otestrum. vice president: Eva Cox. secretary; the geneology and entertainment committees were retained from last year. Mrs. Charles Briggs and daughter, daugh-ter, Rita returned Friday from a three week's trip to California where she visited in Burbank and Canoga Park with her children, chil-dren, Mrs. Verna Coombs and Mr. and Mrs. Reed Briggs. Preident and Mrs. Golden D. Carlston entertained guests, Mrs. Dorothy Brooks and family, Bell Gardens, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Val Dean Stewart and son, San Diego Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Porter, Por-ter, Salt Lake and Bishop and Mrs. S. V. Peterson and family at a supper Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Mads C. Jensen and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Jensen of Burlington, Wyoming were Fairview guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Hansen. The Jensens toured Yellowstone National Park, Idaho Ida-ho and Utah visiting relatives and friends and enjoying the Centennial celebration. Mr. and Mrs. Mads C. Jensen were early residents of Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Jensen was formerly Mary Ann Hansen. Funeral Services Held Saturday Afternoon For Frank Tucker Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed Saturday at 2 p. m. for Frank Tucker. 75, in the Fairview South ward chapel. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,, by Howard Rigby, bishop. The serv- ! ices were opened by thre choir singing, "Beautiful Home"; opening op-ening prayer, James L. Peterson; song, by choir; "A Tribute to My Grandfather," was paid by Arthur Ar-thur Tucker, grandson of Mr. Tucker; talk. E. H. Anderson; vocal vo-cal duet, "Jesus Lover of My Soul," Anna Jensen and Albert Madsen; talk, Heber Mower; vocal vo-cal solo. "That Silver Haired Daddy Dad-dy of Mine," Edwin Miner; speaker, speak-er, Bishop Henry W. Jones; song. "1 Know That My Redeemer Lives," solo parts were sung by Stanley Brady, Earnest Peterson, Ida Bills, Edwin Miner and Wy-nelle Wy-nelle Vance; prayer, Peter Peterson. Peter-son. Dedication of the grave was by Byron Tucker. Burial was in the Fairview City cemetery, under un-der hte direction of the Jacobs Mortuary. Mr. Tucker died at his home Tuesday aftei a lingering illness. Born in Fairview April 30. 1572, a son of George and Emma Hurst Tucker, early Utah pioneers. He married Hannah Peterson in A-pril, A-pril, 1S92, in the Manti L D S Temple. Mr. Tucker had been engaged in farming. He was an active worker in the L D S church and a member of the high priests quorum. Surviving are his widow; four sons and three daughters, M. F., Valten, Que Tucker, Mrs. Alice Nelson, Mrs. Emma Evans, and Mrs. Mildred Lasson, all of Fair-view; Fair-view; Ned A. Tucker, El Monte, California; two brothers, Travers Tucker, rPovo and Charles Tucker, Tuck-er, Roy, Weber county; 27 grand children and 5 great grandchildren. grandchil-dren. My?. Mrs. Winnie Rasmusscn entertained enter-tained her club members Monday Mon-day .evening at her home. Funeral Services Conducted For Mrs. Sarah Bushman Fowles Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed for Mrs. Sarah Bushman Fowles Fow-les in the South ward chapel In Bishop Howard Rigby. The invocation in-vocation was given by Peter Peterson; organ solo, Mrs. Jessie Sundwall; speakers were Bishop H. P. Hansen and George F. Olson; Ol-son; vocal solo, rloyd Young accompanied by Le Nila Young vocal solo, Allan Allred of Eph-raim; Eph-raim; benediction, Chauncy V. Howell. The grave in the City cemetery was dedicated by Paul S. Dixson jof Salt Lake and the home prayer I w as offered by John Bushman ol Lehi. Mrs. Fowles died Thursday at 1:00 a. m. in Salt Lake City. She was horn March 17, isi'iil at Lehi, a daughter of acoh and Charlotte Turley Bushman. When she was l.'i years old she moved wilh her parents to St. Johns, I Arizona w here the family aided in M'ltlenicnt of the commimily. She attended school at SI. Johns and Lehi. On Apiil l'.l, 1SNS she was married to Henry Fowles in 'the Logan L 1) S Temple. Mr. Fowles, who was .1 contractor and hiiilder in Sanpete county, died in 1S99. ,:rs. Fowles was an active memver of the L D S church and was the first Relief Society president in the Fairview South ward. She was active in the organization at the time of her death. She also served on the Stake M. I. A. board in Fair-view. Fair-view. She lived in Salt Lake for ten years while doing temple work. She is survived by a son, Jacob T. Fowles, Fariview; a daughter, Mrs. Lillian Price, Salt Lake City; two sisters, Ida R. Anderson and Ella Barker, Fairview; five grand children and two great grandchildren. |
