Show TOM FOOLERY. . . Lyman Willardson, the man from Ephraim who keeps an eye on sanitary conditions in the county, also has a sharp eye for mistakes in newspapers. He discovered the lulu which follows in the Deseret News of Thursday, November 4. "A total of 72,370 voters cast ballots in Sevier County Tuesday in a record vote which showed the county to be overwhelmingly Republican. "Republican votes cast totaled 44,448, with 27,907 Democratic and 15 Progressive. "In Piute County the story was repeated. Of 11,372 votes cast, 6415 were Republican and 4957 Democratic. "Garfield County also cast a heavy vote, 23,854 voters going to the polls. The Republicans lead with 14,200 votes, Democrats 9652 and Progressives 2." Lyman says that counties that can better than double their populations for the sake of a mere election if only in the Deseret News are Progressive indeed. A Salt Lake friend of ours, accompanied by her two young sons, aged 4 and 5, was Christmas shopping recently at a department store which exhibits all of its wares on one tremendous floor. She took the two boys to the toy department and instructed in-structed them to look around while she went elsewhere to purchase a couple of items. Fifteen minutes or so later she heard a high shrill voice, obviously that of an excited clerk, saying, "Please, little boy don't. Please, please, don't ..." Out of curi osity she followed the sound of the voice which led her to the bathroom fixtures department. There she found, to her considerable embarassment that her four-year-old was making himself completely at home with one of the bathroom fixtures exhibited. |
