Show Spring City Parents Go To School A Day Thursday in commemoration of National Education Week the parents of the school children visited the schools. In the af- j ternoon an Armistice Day pro-1 gram svas presented as fol-i fol-i losvs: Group singing "Ameri ca"; Pledge of Allegiance; the singing svas conducted by Mrs. Rose Schofield; prayers, Loi.- Beck and Ruth Ellis; flag sa- j lute; a moment of silence svas observed in memory of World War dead. The elementary school children sang "Flag of Freedom". Follosving the program pro-gram a picture show fitting-svith fitting-svith the Armistice Day theme ss as shosvn. A special PTA meeting svas held later under the direction of PTA president, Mrs. Ireta Strate. The special problem discussed was the re-opening of the local swimming pool. Definite plans svere made to work on the piar and contributions are to be asked for in the near future so a fine system will be installed at the pool which is needed before be-fore its re-opening. The city officials will assist in this project. pro-ject. Parents visited the variour grades and their children's problems were discussed svith the teacher. The Aleathea Club members svere the guests of Mrs. Hazel Black Friday afternoon. The afternoon was spent in a social hour svith a hot lunch served b; the hostess. Mrs. Cutler Schofield entertained enter-tained a number of young peo-1 at a surprise party Thurso! evening for the birthday anni versary of Blake Allred. Kirkham of the General Authorities sounded the keynote of the North Sanpete San-pete Stake conference, Sunda by admonishing the parents ot today to keep in the pathway and mark the way for the youn;' to follow. He cited many incidents relating re-lating to gaining and promoting promot-ing faith. Elder Uran of the General Welfare staff, also spoke at both sessions and ox-plained ox-plained our duty in regards to the welfare program. Other speakers were Presidt-n Golden Carlston and members of the Stake Presidency, J. R. Bagnall, William Olsen. and Reed Lasson, Mrs. Pearl Winkler Wink-ler of the Stake Relief Societ presidency, Esther Peel, a member mem-ber of the Stake wide Golden Gleaners and Bishop E. B. Terry. Ter-ry. The music furnished by the North Sanpete high schoo! chorus and the Terrinette chorus chor-us of Spring City, and the ward choir of Spring City were conducted con-ducted by Bishop E. B. Terry The Sunday evening sessio:-was sessio:-was under the direction of the M. I. A. with Stake M. I. A president, Mrs. Ruth Jones presiding. pre-siding. The general theme o'. the meeting was "The Observance Observ-ance of the Sabbath". Prayers were by Neil Jones and Rex Hafen, Mt. Pleasant. Scripture-reading Scripture-reading relating to the theme were read by, Jay Monsen, Ml. Pleasant and Joan Larsen Fairview. J. B. Petersen, Henry Jacobs, Fairview, Maxola Olson Spring City, Betty Shelley, Mt. Pleasant and Owen Anderson principal of thes North Sanpete stake Seminary, were the speak ers. Norman Brunger sang r. vocal solo with Mrs. Ethel Ericksen as the accompanist. The latter two are from Mt. Pleasant. The congregational singing was conducted by Mrs. Ericksen. In observance of National Education Ed-ucation Week Mrs. Christie Bunnell, First group teacher invited the parents of her grade to visit them Wednesday, and problems were discussed and taken up and the parents vis ited the children at their schoo' work. Mr.and Mrs. Austin Ericksor and children of Murray spen the weekend with their mother Mrs. Eva Erickson. Morris Crisp sustained badly cut hand while workinr with the fan belt of a car a his home. Two of his finger were badly cut and two fingers were partially cut off. Morris is the son of Mr. and Mr? George Crisp and is a studeiv of the Junior high school. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Maxfiek! and baby and Miss Voniel Ivory of Salt Lake city visited with Mr. and Mrs. James W. Biain the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Gregson Scho-field Scho-field are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Royal Allred and Mr. and Mrs. Cutler Schofiled. The visitors visi-tors are from Salt Lake city. The Stake Primary board meeting for the month of November No-vember was held at the home of Mrs. Ada Ellis of this city. President Pres-ident Edda Graham of Fair-view Fair-view was in charge. Plans for the coming December Union meeting were taken up and other oth-er present phases of the Primary Pri-mary work. Mrs. Evelyn Acord entertained the Bridge club members at her home, Wednesday evening Special guests of Mrs. Acord were Mrs. Dona Allred, Mrs. Earl dene Clark and Mrs. Mayrt: Anderson of Ephraim. Refreshments Re-freshments were served to her guests by Mrs. Acord. Mrs. Albert Watson entertained enter-tained Mr. and Mrs. Lavor Jensen, Jen-sen, Francis Black, McKeon Strate, Theron Draper, Mis-Maurine Mis-Maurine Schofield, Miss Fanor Watson and Miss Shirley Reese of Wales at her home Thursday at a birthday dinner for her daughter Fanon Watson. Later in the evening the young people peo-ple enjoyed a dancing party. Miss Ruth Ellis assisted b; her mother, Mrs. Ada EUis and a group of girl friends enter tained a group of young p?op't at the Ellis home at a surprise party for Lenore Allred. The surprise party was in observance of the birthday anniversary of Lenore. The evening was spent in playing games and refreshments refresh-ments were served. The Spring City members o! the North Sanpete high schoo' chorus entertained the 01 he members from the other citier Sunday at a luncheon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cliffort' McKinney. The chorus presented pre-sented the music for the forenoon fore-noon ..session of the quarterly conference and 96 members were in the chorus. |
