Show Bid-Happy Crowd At Banquet Nets Hospital $1000 With Delbert Johansen bidding bid-ding 'em up, supporters of the Sanpete LDS hospital added another $1,000 to the kitty-Wednesday kitty-Wednesday evening at a bene fit banquet. Conducted at the South ward recreation hall under the auspices aus-pices of the South and North wards Elders quorums, the banquet ban-quet netted $5(XJ In ticket sale, and $617.25 from an auction which saw one turkey auctioned auc-tioned off five times, a can of honey, twice, and the flowers which decorated the tables, one. A capacity crossd from Ihroughout Sanpete count watched the glib-tongued auctioneer auc-tioneer gain a $125 price for1 the turkey on the first sale. The turkey contributed by Bud Jolley, was first purchased by Harry G. Erlcksen, who set a pattern by putting the turke. back on the auction block afler agreeing to pay the top price of-$125 of-$125 to the hospital building fund. The other buyers of the! turkey were Mr. and Mrs. F. J Neilson who paid $100 afte. bidding each other up to that figure; Stake President Golden Carlston, $75; John Winkelman $70, and William C. Olsen, $135. A five pound can of hone;, contributed by Bishop James F. Ellis brought a $50 bid ani sale from A. L. Carlston and k similar bid and sale from O. M Aldrich. The floral decorations on the tanks brought $7.25 on bid. They were furnished by Squirc't Jesvelry and Flosvers. Many Help Out Bishop J. W. Winkelman acted as toastmaster oi the meeting which included the shossing of motion pictures about Hawaii. The motion picture pic-ture was sponsored by R. Clair Anderson of Manti, distributor of Standard Oil products and Lasson and Norman Auto company com-pany of Mt. Pleasant, which has the local Standard station. Chairman of the. table decorations dec-orations committee was Jessel Sorensen. She svas assisted by-Ruth by-Ruth Christopher, Fern Coates, Ada Robinson, Elaine Becke.-and Becke.-and Carol Burton. Cooking of the turkey meal svas done by a committee including in-cluding Mrs. Keith Allred, chairman, and the following assisting: Keith Allred, Mi. and Mrs. Delbert Johansen, Mrs. Robert Fosvles and Mrs. Dail P.
