Stake President and Mrs. George Anderson returned home Sunday from the annual Seminary Semin-ary Teachers' Conference held in Salt Lake Friday and Saturday. Satur-day. The meetings were presided over hy . the Church's Commissioner Commis-sioner of Education Frank L. West and two supervisors, Kail Wood and Joy F. Dunyon. Friday morning session heard Apostle John A. Widtsoe and Apostle Henry Moyle speak. Friday afternoon's session was given over to a discussion and demonstration of various classroom class-room teaching methods. Friday evening a chicken dinner din-ner was served to the seminary teachers and their families at Riverside Park. Saturday morning's closing session as a testimonial meeting President Anderson said. The convention, which was attended at-tended by about 176 teachers, was held in the University Ward Chapel in Salt Lak City. President Presi-dent Anderson said teachers from Canada, Arizona, California Wyoming, Colorado. Idaho and Utah were in attendance. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Allen, of Mesa Arizona, who are here visiting visit-ing their daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. George Anderson, spent last weekend in Salt Lake City attending an Allen family reunion. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Blackham were in Logan on business Monday Mon-day and Tuesday. Mrs. Will Anderson, Mrs. Lewis Blackham, Mrs. Elden Westen-skow Westen-skow and Mrs. Bard Blackham visited last Friday afternoon with Mrs. Glenn Donaldson in pring City. James Edwin and Olivet Frank Harris are visiting this week with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Robertson, while their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver F. Harris of Nephi, are vacationing in Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. Harris are 'expected home soon. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Anderson of Magna spent the weekend visiting friends and relatives. Word has been received here of the birfh of a baby son to Mr. and Mrs. ' Raymond Trone of Salt Lake City, on August 20. Mrs. Trone, the former Darlene Draper, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Blain Draper. Miss Rheta Olsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Olsen, is visiting in Idaho Falls with her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Olsen. She is expected to return home this weekend. Handwork articlese exhibited by Moroni women won several prizes at the Sanpete County Fair in Manti last week. Mr. and Mrs. John L. Olsen are in Salt Lake City going through the Temple there with their son. Ralph, who is being married in Temple rites to Miss Vanona Fisher of Helena, Montana. The bride, who is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Fisher of Helena, is a former student at the BYU. Mr. Olsen was graduated from the BYU in June with a degree in soil chemistry. He was graduated cum laude, having a straight "A" record and having finished the four year course in three. Upon Up-on graduation he was awarded a fellowship at Cornell University, Univer-sity, Ithaca, New York, where he will continue his education. The newlyweds will be honored at a reception at the home of Mr. Olsen's parents, from 6 to 10 f.m. On Monday night a formal er-ception er-ception for the couple will be held in Helena. Ralph Blackham led a panel discussion on "Marketing Utah Turkesy" in Tuesday afternoons sessions of the 16th annual poultry poul-try school and conference, held Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Wednes-day. Forty-two tired but happy FFA and Aaronic priesthood boys arrived ar-rived home Monday night after i an 8-day trip to Yellowstone Nat- ional Park. Sponsors making the trip v-tth the boys were Elden Westenskow, Ray Kelson, Clifford Blackham, Osmond Crowther and James Christensen. Total cost of the trip to each boy as $8.75. |
