Show I I SPRING CITY I By Special Correspondence I Mr. Angus Black was Wednesday Wednes-day of the past week called to Juab County where his son, Francis Fran-cis Black was herding sheep. Young Black was ill and in a serious condition. Coming home Dr. G. B. Madsen of Mount Pleas- ant was called. Mrs. Thelma Madsen entertained enter-tained a number of lady friends and neighbors at her home here on Thursday, it being her birthday birth-day anniversary. Mrs. Mary Jensen left last week for California where she will spend the remaining part' of the winter with her daughters and their families. Relatives in Spring City were Saturday advised of the death of John August Carlson of Mount Pleasant, who passed away in the night. August Carlson spent his childhood days in Spring City coming here-as a child with his parents from Sweden. His stepmother, step-mother, Mena Carlson and a brother, Delone Carlsen live in Spring City. Monday evening in the Victory Theatre a farewell party was given honoring Wilford Puzey and Lindon Jensen, two of our young men who were accepted and inducted into the United ! States Army on January 10th. 1 They will leave for service on the first of February. Mrs. Leslie Nelson has been in Salt Lake City a few days during the week. Mrs. Mena Carlsen is visiting in Eureka with her children. Mr. Joseph Puzey spent two days this week with relatives and friends in Mt. Pleasant. The Annual Old Peoples Party will be given this Friday, Jan. 2Sth in the Victory Hall. A hot dinner will be served at 1 p. m. and the afternoon will be spent in attending a program which has been prepared and a married folks dance will be given in the evening. The community is busily engaged en-gaged in the preparations for the party and every one in town has been visited and all the old people from 60 years of age to past 90 have received invitations to the party. All widows and widowers and invitations were enxtended to all married people to be in attendance at the dance m the evening. |
