Show - SPRING CITY By Special Correspondence Friday afternoon in the Victory Vic-tory Hall the Spring City Ward Relief Society held its opening social at which the following program was rendered: Song by the Singing Mothers. Opening Open-ing prayer was offered by Vera Downard. A piano solo was given giv-en by Muriel Nunley; reading by Neva Dye, a vocal solo by Jean Baxter. A tribute to visiting teachers was given by Hazel Black. A reading by Vilate Hope; a piano solo by Mary Larsen; a reading by Dona Allred and a song by the Singing Mothers and prayer was offered by Minnie Barney. Refreshments were served serv-ed to all rpesent. John R. Baxter returned home from Delta where he has been employed the past summer. Mrs. Ernest Justesen visited on Wednesday with her daughter, Mrs. Verl Morgan and family at Fountain Green. Mrs. Lowell Stevens and daughter daugh-ter of Brigham were guests last week at the home of Mrs. Helena Bunnell. Mrs. Archie Barney and children chil-dren have moved to Fairview. Mrs. Sidney Morley and children chil-dren left last week for Ogden to join Mr. Morley, who is employed em-ployed there on defense work. Hobert Staker and family left last week for the coal camps in Carbon County. LeGrande Hansen was home on furlough a few days last week to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orland Hansen and other relatives rela-tives at Spring City. LeGrande is in the U. S. Navy, a first class Seaman. Mr. and Mrs. Royal Allred, Mr. and Mrs. Gregson Schofield motored mo-tored to Salt Lake City to attend conference. Mrs. Schofield remained re-mained to visit with her sister, Mrs. Lola Larsen for a week. Carlan Blain, who has been at the Fitzsiman's General Hospital in Denver for several weeks, stopped off on his way back to Fort Lewis, Washington to visit a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Blain and other relatives and friends in Spring City. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p. m. in the Spring City ward chapel for August A. Sandstrom under the direction of Bishop Ellis. The choir was in attendance and sang, "Rock of Ages," "Beautiful Home," and "We Shall Meet." There was also a duet, "Abide With Me," given by Olga Black and Flossie Blain. Prayers were offered by Elders Joseph G. Schofield and Christian Chris-tian Sorensen. The speakers were Dr. W. P. Winters of Mt. Pleasant, Pleas-ant, Joseph Ursenbach and Bishop Bish-op James F. Ellis. The pallbearers pall-bearers were Emil Sandstrom, George Jensen, Delano Mott, Louis Christensen, L. Sandstrom, and Vernon Ericksen. Interment was in the family plot in the Spring City cemetery under the direction of Ursenbach Funeral Home. The local Daughters of Utah Pioneers met Monday at 2 p. m. in the Relief Society Hall for the election of officers. Mrs. Ruth R. Osborne was elected captain; Mrs. Minnie Barney, firts vice-captain; vice-captain; Mrs. Hannah C. Mickle, second vice-captain; and Mrs. Darcus A. Blain, secretary, who was re-elected to that position. Mr. and Mrs. Maitland Drage of Orem visited Sunday with Mrs. Drage's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Black. Last Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Marsden Allred motored to Heber City to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Gillman and sons. Mrs. Stena Allred is ill at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. C. Madsen at Spring City. The Noroth Sanpete Stake Primary Pri-mary officers met Monday evening eve-ning at the home of Mrs. Elva M. Allred, who is president of the organization. |
