Next Friday's Schedule. - North Sanpete at Gunnison. Wasatch at Manti. .-Moroni .-Moroni at Ephraim. Judging from the results of this Friday's games in the Sanpete district dis-trict high school hoop competition, the New Deal for ardent supporters of the local quints must have slipped slip-ped a cog or two. For this afternoon in the Wasatch Academy gymn Gunnison's ferocious Bulldogs made the Wasatch Tigers appear clawless by comparison, when they ran up 47 points to 23 for the locals, and Moroni meantime ran roughshod over Sanpete, 57 to 21. In the third encounter, Manti and Ephraim fought their traditionally tradition-ally hard game, Ephraim leading at the half, 20 to 19, Manti ahead at the finish, 41 to 38. These results give the Bulldogs a grip on, the pennant that will demand de-mand a miracle to release. Gunnison Gunni-son has lost only one game, to Moroni, Mo-roni, and she has to meet only Sanpete San-pete next week on her own floor, and then Ephraim on the! latter's floor, to finish her schedule. Only an unexpected upset when she plays at Ephraim looms as even a remote possibility in the way of dragging her down to a level with Moroni, who meets first Ephraim and then Manti. Barring the chance that Ephraim should upset Gunnison, or that Moroni Mo-roni should lose one of her two remaining re-maining contests', the two teams which are now leading the district 'will finish the season in their present pres-ent relationship. Gunnison played a whirlwind game from the start this afternoon, piling up a tremendous lead at the opening and holding the advantage throughout. Anderson-at forward was responsible for 21 points, just one basket shy of all that the entire en-tire Tiger squad caged. In the Moroni-Sanpete tussle, Olsen, bailey and Christensen were high scorers for the visitors. |
