Show Boy Scouts Observe Their Silver Jubilee In keeping with the nation-wide obs' trace of the Silver Jublee oi the Boy Scouts of America, there were assembled today 318 Boy Scouts in the North Sanpete stake district who took the Oath of Ai-leg'ance Ai-leg'ance and the Pledga to the Flag. He has been an active Scout leader for fourteen years. The cep"aoon!es of today, Febru-ary Febru-ary 8(ih, Boy Scout Annl versa ry Day, are but one event in Boy Scout Week, February 8th to 14th, ana usher in a celebration which nl) be carried forward throughout the year. A high point of the celebration will occur in August when thirty thousand boys wiU gather in Washington, Wash-ington, D. C, to camp together in the First National Scout Jamboree in the United States fa ra period of ten days. It will be the greatest outdoor boy event In American history his-tory and opening on August 21 will continue with daily demonstrations, displays and exhibits cf Scout activities act-ivities till August 30th. Scout Week itself will be marked by many special activities. Sautrday, February 9th, will find many local activities under way. On Scout, Sunday. February 10th. Scouts -f all religious faiths will gather in their respective churches, attending Sccut srvicea as Troops, Patrols and Individuals. In public and private schools in all parts of thr country the Scout Anniversary will be celebrated on Monday, February 11th, with special exerdies. On Tuesday, February 12th, Scouts will celebrate Pioneer Day, paying tribute to the great pioneers and Scouts of tfie past to whose deeds and lives the cout Movement is indebted in-debted for for much of the storied romance that appears in the Scout program. Where Lincoln's Birthday ceHjrations are held they will be merged by the Scouts with the Pioneer Pio-neer Day celebration. |
