Show Examinations for Coast Guard Academy Slated Senator Frank E. Moss (D-Ulah) (D-Ulah) announced recently that the competitive examination for entrance to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy will be held nationwide on February 20 and 21, 1961. Successful applicants will receive re-ceive a four-yaar course which leads to a Bachelor of Science degree de-gree and a commission as a career car-eer officer in America's oldest seagoing service, Senator Moss pointed out. "There are no geographical quotas which restrict entrance to the Coast Guard Academy," he explained. "Appointments are made on a competitive basis. Qualified young men should write for details and applications to Coast Guard Headquarters In Washington, D.C. Applications miust be postmarked on or before January 10, 1961," he said. . A candidate must be single, must have reached his seven- . . teenth birthday but not his 22nd by July 1, 1961, and must be in excellent physical condition. A high school diploma is the minimum educational requirement, require-ment, although high school seniors sen-iors assured of being graduated by June 30 are eligible to take the examination if they will have at least 15 credits by that time. All applicants must have three units of English, two Algebra, and one In Plane Geometry by graduation. The Coast Guard Academy is at New London, Connecticut.
