Show Grazing Still Not Allowed on Reserve Land Even though the growing season sea-son is over, land in the Conservation Conserva-tion Reserve may not be used for grazing so long as the land retir;-ment retir;-ment contract remains in effect. Claude Hunting of the Utah County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee said today in a reminder to farmers. For Conservation Reserve contracts con-tracts which expire in 1960, the prohibition on grazing continues until Dec. 31. For contracts with additional years to run, the farmer farm-er is obligated to withhold the land from crops or grazing and to refrain from breaking out new land until the contract expires. Mr. Hunting said that I960 annual payments are being made to Conservation Reserve participants partic-ipants now that performanbe has been checked to determine that contract requirements have been complied with during the past year. There are 39 contracts In effect in Utah County" in 1960, covering a total of 5,855 acres of cropland. |
