Show Safety Flag to Fly at PGHS For Safe Driving Under the direction of the Utah County Safety Committee, Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove and other Utah County Coun-ty schools are participating this school year in a Safety Achievement Achieve-ment Flag program comparable to the one being conducted in the Salt Lake City schools. In addition to Pleasant Grove, Payson, Am. Fork, Spanish Fork, Springville, Provo, Orem, Lehi, St. Francis, and BY High and the Central Utah Vocational School are participating. The program function is as follows:' fol-lows:' The schools compete with one another on a no-citation basis. bas-is. The members of the various studentbodys are the ones who make it possible for their schools to fly the safety flag. Those high schools who are free of citations for one week are allowed to fly the Safety Achievement Achieve-ment Flag during the following week. Because of the difference in number of students, the number of citations are being prorated in accordance with school population. popula-tion. PTA or other local civic organizations in each city in the county have been asked to purchase pur-chase a safety flag from the Utah County Safety Committee and present it to their local high school. It is hoped that this program will be successful in preventing accidents and in making teenage drivers safety conscious in the county. Announcements will be given out periodically with the standings of the schools. |
