Show r ? & : vY 1 J. D. McCALL J. D. McCall New President Geneva Steel Appointment of a native Oali-fornian, Oali-fornian, J. D. McCall, as president pres-ident of Columbia-Geneva Steel Division of United States Steel Corporation, with headquarters in San Francisco, was announced today to-day by Leslie B. Worthington, president of U.S. Steel. In his new position, Mr. McCall Mc-Call succeeds Mr. Worthington, who was elected president of U.S. Steel on November 10. Until today, Mr. McCall, who is 48, had been vice president-operations of Columbia-Geneva, a post to which he was appointed in 1957. Prior to that, he had served serv-ed for two years as the Division's general manager of" operations. Born in Stockton, Calif., Mr. McCall received his early education edu-cation there and was graduated from Stanford University with a degree in mechanical engineering engineer-ing and a MBA degree from Stanford's Stan-ford's Graduate School of Business. Bus-iness. After starting his business career in Oakland, Calif., he joined join-ed Columbia Steel Co. then a U.S. Steel subsidiary, in 1936 as an engineer and statistician at its Pittsburg Works. He later was promoted to assistant industrial indus-trial engineer and in 1938 was named the plant's works industrial indus-trial engineer. From 1940 to 1942 Mr. McCall served as assistant general superintendent sup-erintendent at Columbia Steels' Torrance Works. Returning to Pittsburg Works as assistant general superintendent in 1942, he became general superintendent superintend-ent there in 1947. He was appointed ap-pointed assistant general manager-operations of Columbia-Geneva Steel Division in 1954. |
