V v ii II . , j OLDER FOLK Honored by songs at Old Folks party last Saturday were Joseph Larson, oldest man present, sung to by JoAnn Brady and Jeanne Walker. Bill Petersen sings to Mr. and Mrs. John L. Adams, couple present who had been married longest, while Ernest Morgan sings to Mrs. Minnie Oscarson, oldest woman present at the annual Timpanog-os Stake party. Annual Party for Olcler Folk in Timpanogos Stake Held Last Saturday, Large Crowd Out Two hundred seventy-five Older Old-er Folk and special guests were royally entertained last Saturday afternoon at Timpanogos Stake House at the annual party for the Senior Citizens of the Pleasant Grove area. Prior to the 12:30 dinner din-ner Managger Keith Miller of the Grove Theatre hosted the oldsters at a free 9how at 10 a.m. In addition to the 275 served at the recreation hall, 65 dinners were taken out to the shut-ins and 50 members of the committee commit-tee also enjoyed the fine steak dinner at the "second table." Committee chairman Ernest y Morgan emceed the program and kept things moving at their hilarious hilar-ious best. "We couldn't afford a professional emcee," he said. Invocation was offered by Bishop Gerald Belliston and President Pres-ident Boyd L. Fugal made everyone every-one feel welcome with his warm and well-chosen remarks.. Mayor Burton H. Adams responded for ' the Older Folk in his humorous and interesting way. Following dinner Larry Hanks David Erickson and Steven Thomson Thom-son played a comet trio accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. iDuella Jakeman; Norma Bronson gave a humorous reading and JoAnn Brady and Jeanne Walker sang a duet, accompanied ac-companied by Beverly CJwisteson. Ernest Morgan sang "Mother MaCree" to Mrs. Minnie Oscar-son, Oscar-son, the oldest woman present and Mrs. Joe Christiansen -pinned an orchid on the honored lady. Joseph Larsen, oldest man present, pres-ent, was the recipient of a carnation carn-ation buttonaire from Dora Hales as JoAnn Brady and Jeanne Walker sang "May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You." W. E. Petersen sang "Through the Years," to Mr. and Mrs. John L. Adams, the couple present who had been married the longest. Flowers were pinned on the "longest marrieds" by Pearl Powlke. Hal Haycock took quickie photographs pho-tographs of the honored senior citizens and presented the same to them as momentos of the day. Benediction was pronounced by Bishop Jean A. Fugal and the guests were presented with oranges or-anges as they left the recreation hall. |
