Show Utah Symphony Orchestra Ready For Sixteenth Year The stage is set for the opening open-ing of the sixteenth season of the Utah Symphony orchestra and Raymond J. Ashton, president of the symphony board, predicts "the greatest symphony season in history." his-tory." The opening concert is scheduled sched-uled for Wednesday, Oct. 31 with the glamorous Rise Stevens of the New York Metropolitan Opera as the first guest artist on the series. Others include the. noted cellist, Zara Nelsova; Dorothy McGuire of film and TV fame; Fredell Lack, outstanding feminine violinist; Clifford Clif-ford Curzon, British pianist and Mischa Elman, one of the world's greatest violinists of all time. In addition Reid Nibley of Utah will perform as piano soloist. Ten concerts, are on the schedule sched-ule this year and as a special bonus for season ticket holders, tickets to the Nutcracker ballet which was completely sold out for seven performances last year, will be added at no extra charge. This gives season ticket holders a chance for the best seats at a big savings. The price of the eleven events this season will be the same as ten concerts last year. To take advantage of this outstanding out-standing offer, many music patrons are sharing the tickets. Where it is impossible to attend all concerts con-certs two patrons in many areas are sharing the tickets to take advantage of the reduced season ticket prices. First rehearsal for the orchestra orches-tra is scheduled for Oct. 24. Maestro Maes-tro Abravanel reports that the symphony will play concerts from one end of the state to the other.
