Show Linclon Mayor Terms Fair ''Very Favorable Community Project," Held Last Saturday "A very successful community project," said Lindon Mayor Harold Har-old Keetch, in commenting on the success of the Lindon Fair held last Saturday at the Community Park. The day got'off to an auspicious start at 10 a.m. with the spectacular spectac-ular parade. Velma Gillnian was announced an-nounced as grand champion of rlie pastry division with a chocolate cake entry, and Mrs. Thelma Gill-man Gill-man received grand champion needlewt,! k award, wilh her all-over all-over lace table cover. During the afternoon, a nail driving dri-ving contest was held between the ladies of the community and a horse-pulling contest at 2 p.m. Little League baseball game wilh a Provo team climaxed the day's events. Wara-ick Wara-ick of Timpanogos Stake. judging oi iuir exhibits begaJi at 11 a.m. following the parade. The pastry section was judged by County Commissioner Verl G. Dixon of Provo. His nod cf approval approv-al of the prize-winning pie was the only language he could muster mus-ter as he ate his way through the red cherry pie, baked by the pie contest winner, Miss Patricia Pack, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pack. Connie Johnson and Verlcne Christiansen were second and third place winners in the young "cooks" division, which was open to girls between the ages of , 11 and 18 years of age. During the afternoon, a program of fun and recreation was carried out for the youngsters under the direction of Mr. and Mrs. Lon Hcoley. A ball game for children was under the direction of Janv.i Pullman, and assisting with the fishpond and other chilren's activities activ-ities were Renae Edwards, Lorraine Lor-raine Ruffell, and Carol Hardy. Entries of beautiful flowers, fresh and canned fruits, cakes, bread, and a needlework division were separate interesting" sections of the fair, which was visited by thet community and visitors from ether cities.
