Show 25 YEARS AGO In the Review Saturday August 30, 1930 Winners in the varous events at Timpanogos Stake Day at Geneva Resort last Wednesday were as follows: Bishops and their Counselors battled to a tie in the baseball game with the Stake Presidency and the High Council. The final score was 23 to 23. The Chamber of Commerce dei feated t'.ie Lions Club in the tug-of-war. Lewis Olpin was declared winner win-ner in the pie eating contest. His opponents were, Que Robertson, Ethan Peay, Alma Christiansen and Duane Harper. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Gillman walked wal-ked off with the uprize for having the largestt family on the grounds. In addition to themselves they had ten children present. C. J3. Harper was the oldest man, and Mrs. Bushman from Lehi was the oldest woman present. Dean Christensen captured the greased pig, and received the porker pork-er as a prize. One thousand pounds of water melon was served during the repast following the day's events. Plans for celebrating Pleasant Grove's birthday were fomiulated at a meeting held early this week. Present at the meeting were representatives re-presentatives of the Stake Presidency, Presi-dency, the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and the City Council. The following were appointed to work on the committees incident to the celebration, which was set for September 13. A. P. Wamick, Estelle Fenton, Mas Grua, Harold Walker, Millie Paulson, Fred Shoell, J. R. Halli-dav, Halli-dav, John Adamson, B. H. Adams, Jennie W. Johnson, Annie Ellis, Ka'e R. Ash, Rose Harper, James H. Walker, Leone Told, Lavina Fuiral, E. A. Beck, Lucile H. Walker, Walk-er, Rose B. Hayes, C. R. Clark, Ford M. Paulson and Ethel Brin-nley. Brin-nley. W. L. Hayes will leave Sunday for Los Angeles', where he will visit with his son Emmitt. The Pleasant Grove Canning Company has beg-un the season'i run on tomatoes. Four hundred and fifty checks were issued by the Company Friday to the bean pickers pick-ers of this year's crop. The City Council has decided tc revise the city ordinances.
