Show ELEMENTARY School News Four teachers are new to the Lindon School this year. They are Mrs. Colleen Parkin Hansen, Mrs. Margene Page Edwards, Mrs. Patricia Mothemy and Gary Edwards. According to Principal Paul Willes, the newcomers are fitting in nicely. lESN The Fourth and Fifth grade students at Lindon will visit the Utah State Fair on Monday, Sept. 19. As an aid to their study of Utah history and industry, the young people will secure valuable first hand information. 'ESN Teachers at Lindon School will conduct an art workshop as a feature of their faculty meeting on Thursday, Sept. 14. Four of the teachers who took the Alpine Al-pine District course last summer, sum-mer, will direct the workshop and demonstrate 'the methods they have learned. ESN The Lindon School library was i2i use during the past summer, under the supervision of voluntary volun-tary librarians Mrs. Norma Hales and Mrs. Marjorie Lott. From sixty to eighty books were talcen out each week. A word of thanks is due all those who helped in the project. ESN Three new teachers have been welcomed into the Central School faculty. They are Gary Madsen, Ann Olsen and Joyce Buchanan. ESN The Central School PTA officers offic-ers met last Friday under the direction of their new president, Mrs. Marlow Brady. The year's activities were discussed, including includ-ing "Back to School Night," which will be held early in October. ESN The Fifth grade students of Kenneth Ludlow were sworn in as Junior policemen last Friday by Officer John Huntsman. Mr. Huntsman also talked to all of the Fifth graders on public safety- ESN On Sept 7, Principal Calvin Walker talked to all of the 4th and 5th grade boys and girls at Central School about general regulations. reg-ulations. ESN Remedial teacher Mrs. Ora Thome has decorated the bul-' letin boards at Central using book covers and western scenes. ESN1 On" Wednesday the new teachers teach-ers of Alpine District met at Central for an orientation meeting meet-ing under the direction of supervisors super-visors Donna O. Ash and Margaret Mar-garet Johnson. ESNl On Thursday morning of last week students of Grovecrest honored hon-ored two of our local citizens who have done much in the past years to teach good citizenship in our school. Mrs. Sadie Beck was presented pre-sented with a citation for her outstanding work with our Savings Sav-ings Bond program. John Huntsman of the local police force was also honored and complimented for the fine spirit of cooperation and . goodwill he has created between the Junior Police at school and the local police system. He also instructed the boys and girls in proper traffic traf-fic and bicycle habits and initiated initiat-ed our first group of Junior Pol- ' Ice. ESN Mrs. Lucille Page, our local school nurse, visited school on Wednesday of this -weak. While here she checked health records of students with the principal. ESN On Monday evening' of this week Kindergarten teachers attended at-tended an Art Workshop conducted con-ducted by Miss Margaret Johnson, John-son, art supervisor of Alpine District. Dis-trict. On Wednesday evening they attended a workshop for new kindergarten teachers in Alpine District. At this meeting Miss Olsen, teacher at Grovecrest, gave a special demonstration on teaching teach-ing techniques and helps for kindergarten kin-dergarten teachers. ESN1 School will be dismissed at 12 noon on Monday, Sept. 19. All teachers will attend Alpine Association As-sociation meetings tliis afternoon. Afternoon sessions of kindergarten kindergar-ten and first grade will not attend at-tend school at all on this day. There will be no school lunch served. ESN An educatinal lyceum will be presented to children at Grove-crest Grove-crest on Wednesday, Sept. 21. The lyceum "Trained Animals" will be presented by the National School Assemblies and comes highly rec-omr'-.ded. There will be a small charge. ESN "Backjto-School" night and our annual School Fair will be held conjointly this year on Sept. 22. Teachers and PTA are busy malting malt-ing preparations for a full evening even-ing of learing visiting and socialization social-ization at Grovecrestt. Further notice concerning this evening will be sent into each home. |
