Show WASPS WIN 7 TO 0 EM OPENER LAST FRIDAY AT HEBER The yellow and black Wasatch Wasps stung the Pleasant Grove Vikings twice in a football game played at Heber last Friday afternoon. after-noon. The first was far a six-point touchdown when halfback Dennis Christensen intercepted a P.G. pass on the Viking one-yard stripe and fell over tha line for the score. The second was a one-point one-point conversion oh a plunge by Ray Norton. After the first period score, the teams battled on even terms for the remainder of the game. Early season mistakes nullified whatever scoring punch either side could muster. 'The Vikings displayed real potential po-tential power at one point of the game when they drove to the Wasatch one-yard marker. A stiffening stif-fening Wasp defense held for four downs, the ball went over and Wasatch kicked out of danger. dan-ger. Other region VII teams had better luck in Friday's practice tilts. American Fork swamped a green Juab team at Nephi 28-0 and Lehi blanked traditionally strong Judge Memorial 22-0 in a game played on the Pioneer field. Come Friday, Coach John Gour-ley's Gour-ley's Vikings will try again. This time they travel to Coalville for a contest . with North Summit High. The "experts" predict a P.G. win. |
