Show Lindon Lions Work On Lindon Park; Enjoy Steak Fry The Lindon Lion members met early Friday evening and commenced com-menced the job of cleaning and clearing the stream that runs through the Lindon Park. Fish will be planted in the stream as soon as headgates are installed. The club is happy to report that this work is coming right along and that it will not be long until the boys and girls up to 12-years of age can enjoy fishing in this centrally located stream. John Muir was in charge of a steak fry that followed and with the help of the wives fed the hungry men some tasty fried steaks. These delicious steaks were plentiful and many were commenting commen-ting that they should have stopped one steak sooner for their own comfort. A short business meeting was conducted by H. V. Holdaway. He thanked the members for the splendid support they have given him during his year as president of the club. He announced that he has accepted a zone chairmanship and will work in this cacapcity during the coming year under the new District Governor Alvin Weeks of Vernal. Mr. Holdaway gave a financial report for the Secretary Ivan Blain, who was excused. The park fund is rapidly growing and the club extends a word of thanks to all citizens who are supporting this worth while project. All persons per-sons of the city who have not had the opportunity to pay their ten dollars are invited to contact a club member of call Mr. Holdaway at 6021 and he will be happy to call and pick it up. "This park is yours, and your ten dollars will go a long way toward making It one of the best in the county," says Mr. Holdaway. Hold-away. "All persons are invited to come to the park whenever possible poss-ible and enjoy a picnic, a game of ball, or a family social at your convenience. Those who have already al-ready visited the park report that they have found it as cool and as private as a canyon retreat, so lets all enjoy it as soon as possible," pos-sible," concluded Mr. Holdaway. Oscar Lee Swenson says a double tennis court is to be installed in-stalled in the near future, so it will not be long before Lindon's youth can enjoy a game of tennis on the local courts with their friends. It was reported that the light sponsored by the club has been installed in front of the Lindon Ward church. The officers of the club extend a word of thanks and appreciation to everyone that has helped in any way to make this possible. New club officers of the Lindon Lions Club will be installed at the next meeting of the club. |
