They are Vance West, Nigel Hey, Eddie Oscarson and Rex Richins. These four boys are being sponsored and their expenses paid by the American Ameri-can Legion, Post 70, the Pleasant Grove Chamber of Commerce, the Pleasant Grove Jaycees, and the Lindon Lions Club. The program will take place from July 11-19 at Camp W. G. Williams. Co-chairmen of the organization in Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove are Irwin Jensen and Karl Banks. Rex Richins, who is being sponsored spon-sored by the Lindon Lions Club, has been very active in the local FFA chapter and has been electe-ed electe-ed treasurer of that organization. organiza-tion. Eddie Oscarson, also a senior at the Pleasant Grove High School, was recently elected president of the FFA for the coming school year. He was also a member of the cast of last year's school play. Nigel Hey is active in the music and drama departments of the Pleasant Grove High School. He is a member of the National Thespian Thes-pian Society, Troupe 1027, vand has served as reporter for that organization. organ-ization. He participated in the Region Reg-ion Three small groups music festival fes-tival in the Clarinet Trio ensemble and won honorable mention for a retold story in the region speech meet. Vance West is especially active in athletics, taking part recently in basketball, football and baseball. base-ball. He has been active also in the Glee Club, and as a member of that group participated in the Gay Nineties Revue held last month at the High School. Boys' State is an annual affair, sponsored by the American Legion Department of Utah. It's purpose is to teach Americanism and to teach young people about the American Am-erican way of government. During their stay at Camp Williams, the boys, who are selected from every part of the State of Utah, will elect el-ect a president and various other national, state and local officers. Prominent people of the state and national government will intersperse in-tersperse with lectures on politics and governmental affairs during the 7-day program. Besides its political teachings, Boys' State will feature many forms of recreation and other physical phy-sical recreation. Those boys who are active in musical organizations organiza-tions of their schools are encouraged encour-aged to bring along their instruments, instru-ments, as a band is often organized. organ-ized.
