Two dramatic spectacles "The Christus" and "Behold America" will highlight the Provo celebration celebra-tion with feature performances at 8:30 p.m. each evening in the BYU stadium. "The Christus." a moving drama on the life of Chri.st, will be presented on July 1 and 3. and "Behold America" will dramatize the romance of American liberty in performances July 2 and 4. Both productions are directed by Dr. Harold I. Hansen, director of the famed Hill C'umorah pageant pag-eant in New York, and will be staged on special outdoor settings created by Alfred Sensenbach, noted theatrical designer. A ca.st of more than 650 will participate in the two shows. The four-day festivities will begin be-gin with a kiddies' parade in downtown down-town Provo at 6 p.m. on July 1, and the opening of a giant amusement amuse-ment carnival and bazaar at Pioneer Pio-neer Park. The carnival and concessions con-cessions will continue open through the rest of the week. Special ac tivities will be held on the afternoon after-noon of July 2 and 3 for the kiddies and a patriotic meeting with a "big name" speaker on the afternoon after-noon of July 4. As a traditional climax of the week the Independence Day parade par-ade will be held at 9:30 on July 4, with scores of sparkling floats and marching units adding color and interest to the event. The appeal ap-peal of feminine beauty will be added to the parade in the persons per-sons of a Miss Liberty Belle and her six attendants who will typify the patriotic spirit of the celebration. |
